Thought I'd share Ev and Devin's Avril Brazil interviews, its from March (I think) of 08 so some BLCers may not have seen this.. plus it needs to be saved somewhere other than bandaids or it will get lost..lol
EVAN TAUBENFELD INTERVIEW
ALBR: Hello Evan! First, we would like to thank you for attending this interview request from ALavigne.com.br. Congratulations for the amazing job on The Black List Club and on Avril Lavigne's new album!
ALBR: Some fans alredy said the BLC's lyrics have affected their lives and touched them on a personal level. Did you ever expect your words to have such an impact? What’s it like hearing / knowing that?
EVAN: It's the highest compliment a songwriter can receive. The fact that these songs could ever help or influence people keeps me getting up in the morning.
ALBR: Did you ever have to sit down and force yourself to write? Or it always comes out naturally?
EVAN: At times its really natural, at other times its not as easy. It really depends on the project, The Black List Club, Avril's & my solo stuff is almost always fun. It's not always easy, but its never work. Other projects I do are just as much work as going to an office.
ALBR: We assume you take good care of your voice. Or not? What do you do before a show to warm it up? Have you ever had any professional vocal training?
EVAN: I'm like half super serious about my voice, half don't give a shit. I studied with a number of teachers over the years and eventually developed my thing. I'll go see Ron Anderson once or twice a year to check up on my warmups and technique but other than that I'm kinda just out on my own now. I have tons of CD's of warmups that I use depending on what I'm doing(I have a morning one, a show one, a studio one etc.) Other than that I don't smoke, don't gargle glass or anything so I'm usually in fine shape to sing. On the other hand, I don't give a shit about like dairy, caffeine, eating before, during etc. I warm up, then I sing, the rest is whatever.
ALBR: Could we be the first ones to know the BLC's debut single and/or debut album title?
EVAN: Our first single is "Pumpkin Pie". It's probably my favorite song I've written. The album has no title yet, but we're working on it.
ALBR: What do you think about Brazil? Do you plan to visit us some time? What's the first word that pops up on your head when you hear the word "Brazil"?
EVAN: From everything I can tell it's great. I never got to go when I was with Avril so I can't wait to come ROCK with the BLC.
ALBR: As we all know, you're always out there helping Avril on a couple concerts and stuff. Did you already plan something for Avril on BLC album? Maybe a song you wrote together, or even a duet?
EVAN: Actually, she helps me all the time. I play her the BLC shit and she gives me tons of feedback and help. We're also there for each other whenever we need help tweaking a tune or something. It's great.
ALBR: Can you tell us a bit more about the song "Innocence" you worked on with Avril? It's definatelly one of the most beautiful songs on the album. Not just the lyrics, but all the instrumental sounds very strong making this song very unique. How did you guys feel after hearing it all done for the first time?
EVAN: I think we both instantly knew that it was incredibly special. The first time I heard the final version I cracked a huge smile, it couldn't have turned out better.
ALBR: We were all stunned by an amazing acoustic performance last year at the Roxy Theatre, that was later broadcasted by MSN to all the fans. How great was it to be back on stage and perform a big setlist with Avril again?
EVAN: It was a blast, especially playing with Devin & Av together.
ALBR: What's "The Best Damn Thing" about working with Avril Lavigne?
EVAN: I've learned a ton from her about writing and singing, it's been priceless knowledge.
ALBR: We recently found out that you and Devin will be part of Avril's next single "The Best Damn Thing". Can you give us more details about the video?
EVAN: I'm actually in bed with strep throat, bronchitis, & a sinus infection typing this before I pass back out. So I unfortunately won't be in the video (shooting tomorrow*), its a huge huge bummer.
TBDT video will be shot on February 28th!
ALBR: Can we expect Evan Taubenfeld on a few "The Best Damn Tour" concerts? Maybe both bands on tour together?
EVAN: I think it's too early to know for sure, it's certainly possible. We love her so much and she's so supportive so I'd think its not too far fetched. At the same time, she has some incredible bands coming out with her and I'm sure she needs no help from the tiny little BLC.
ALBR: Thanks a lot Evan for this amazing opportunity and everything you're still doing for us, Avril fans. Everything you write and work on together turns out perfect. We can't wait to see you out there with your band. Good luck on your career. One last thing: can you please leave a message to our team and visitors?
EVAN: You guys are fucking incredible!! Your support keeps us doing what we do. The biggest reward I could ever ask for is having you enjoy our music. See you SOON!
