Cone interview Sum 41 bandaids
1) How do you feel about the new album?
We are all very proud of the new album. Its the album we all wanted to make and its really fun to play live too which is always good.
2) Compared to previous albums, did you have a bigger role in the creative development of the bass on Screaming Bloody Murder?
I've always done all my own bass parts on all the albums unless Deryck has written something specific for a specific part when he wrote the song which happens once in a while. This album was really fun to make bass parts for cause there was a lot going on in the songs musically.
3) When can we expect a new single to be released?
"Baby" (Baby You Don't Wanna Know) has already been released as a 2nd single in a few countries. We are shooting a video for it too.
4) How has your relationship with Deryck and Steve changed/evolved throughout all these years together?
I think we are still good friends. Still talk to each other off tour and still talk to each other about things other than just the band. Just normal "friend" stuff, so I don't see much of a change.
5) Are you going to play any new songs on the upcoming Sum 41 tour?
Yes, we have been working in a lot of new songs. We are pretty much rotating everything off the new album into the set right now.
6) Anything funny and memorable happened on the last tour?
Memorable for me, I ate cow tongue in Japan which was the 1st time in 9 years I have eaten red meat. It was delicious!
7) Steve directed 2 videos for The Operation M.D. "Sayonara" and "Someone Like You". Is he going to direct any other videos for the band?
I would love for him to. Nothing in the works yet though. The new album is out on ITunes right now though. "Birds + Bee Stings" is the name.
8) Is there any new or different music genres you would like to experiment in the future with Sum 41 or The Operation M.D.?
I think Sum 41 is really good at doing different things all the time which keeps things fresh and interesting. Operation MD has a garage rock/ punk sound that I really like doing too. Not sure if that will change or not. As for me personally, I like all types of music and produce different kinds of bands too. I just finished producing 3 songs for a Blue Grass/ Folk / Indie Rock band called The Strumbellas. That was fun cause it is a type of music I really like but have never been involved in. I think they will do really good.
